Tanzania Quest Volunteers Ready for Work

The 2011 Tanzania Gap Year is well and truly underway! Dom, Emily, Haydn, Kari and Lorna touched down at Kilimanjaro Airport on Friday evening and have spent the weekend preparing for work and acclimatising to the temperature (not to mention getting used to the rice and beans diet!)

Thunderstorms are the byword in Babati at this time of year, so the team are putting up with getting a little wet now and then. So far, the volunteers have been learning to milk a cow on the school farm on which they are helping to improve the infrastructure, with The Livingstone Tanzania Trust. This farm enables Wa'angwaray Primary School to be to some extent self-sufficient: the crops and animals not only can provide food for the pupils, but it also provides the school with a product they can sell in the local market for profit. The farm is also an educational tool for the school and community to learn about different ways of using agriculture and animal husbandry to benefit themselves.

Keep up the good work guys!

Hello,

I recently compiled a list of the Top 50 Volunteer/Activism Blogs, and I wanted to let you know that you made the list! The list promotes blogs that focus on volunteer opportunities or work at the policy level for college students interested in learning more. The list is published online at
http://www.onlinedegrees.org/top-50-volunteeractivism-blogs/

Thanks so much, and if you think your audience would find useful information in the list or on the site, please feel free to share the link. You can also use the button we've created for the list, which I can e-mail you. We always appreciate a link back.

Thanks again, and have a great day!

Maria

p.s. If you have a header or logo, I would be happy to include it with the list.
