Since 1996, Quest4Change and our partner volunteering organisation Quest Overseas have sent more than 2,000 volunteers to various projects across 12 countries. We have also raised almost £2 million for our projects overseas.
With eight current projects in seven different countries across South America and Africa, Quest4Change and our partner organisations are directly and indirectly impacting on people, endangered animals and natural habitats of many communities.
But we must always ask ourselves: are we having a positive impact, in all places and at all times? Are we reaching the people and places we said we would? Are they the people and places that can most benefit form our volunteer programmes, and the work of our project partners?
One of the tools we use to monitor our impact is a consequence chain. With this tool we can map what the perceptions of a project's impact are, as a series of subsequent effects. Below is the consequence chain that several members of the Kipico Self Help Group mapped out (originally drawn on a cement bag!) - the impact of just one sand dam! Since 2004, working together with our partners Excellent, we have constructed 23 sand dams and extended or repaired 16.
If you'd like to find out more about the impact we're having across all our projects, take a look at our latest impact report.
