News from Villa Maria

The Villa Maria & Quest Overseas Mini Olympiadas 2011

With the London 2012 games fast approaching, the kids at Villa Maria thought they would warm up early with some colourful international street athletics....

It was a global fiesta with mini-teams from Peru, Holland, Germany, Spain, Brasil, Uruguay and Paraguay - all  battling it out in the Quest Overseas street stadium....  One of our key aims with the children at Villa Maria is to support cultural and recreational activities that are empowering for all members of the community.  Extreme poverty means life is tough in the barrios, and crime and drug abuse is never far away.  The 'Right to Play' is written into the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), and Quest4Change and Quest Overseas are strong advocates for this right.
