As many people are aware the road is going ahead in Parqué Machiá, the machines have started at the Copacabana end and are making their way rapidly towards the park, we expect them to arrive in the next couple of days. We have successfully moved the three affected areas, the Monkey Park, Spider Monkey Park and Gato.
The Monkey Park is now located further up the hill, and we have taken this opportunity to improve our working methods, their plates are now in the trees and it is amazing to watch all the monkeys eating and staying up in the tress. The Spider Park has moved to Luna's old cage, and we are also changing their work practices, with food in the trees and more high runners. Unfortunately, one of the machos is yet to be trapped, so some of the corded monkeys will stay close to the ground for safety until the macho is caught. Gato has moved to the old Albifron cage, which is significantly larger and he seems to doing fine.
We still have a lot of work to do in this difficult time to see these changes through, and are desperately short of volunteers. Volunteers are needed in all areas and any help anyone can give, as financial resources have been drained, is highly appreciated.
Find out how you can volunteer on this project with Quest Overseas next year.
