Our girls embark on a 20mile walk for Malawi orphans

On Sunday 19th September 2010 Heather and Sarah will be bravely tackling a 20mile walk to raise money for our Malawi orphan and community project. All the money our girls raise from their challenging walk will go directly to sponsoring orphaned and vulnerable children to attend school. The girls aim to raise £500 which will allow two children to attend secondary school for four years and consequently transform their lives.

By sponsoring Heather and Sarah you will change the lives of those living in poverty stricken, illness ridden conditions. Our girls are going the extra mile for a cause that Quest4Change feel will really make a difference.

The girls will walk from Eastbourne to Alfriston and back again which they hope to finish in 8 hours. If you would like to sponsor Heather and Sarah and help raise money please donate at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/sarahheatherandtom

Heather and Sarah will help raise money for Quest4Change’s work, in partnership with the Joshua Orphan Care Trust, to provide vital support to HIV/AIDS orphans and their families in rural Malawi through community and grassroots based projects.

Malawi is in desperate need of help, the country is recognised as one of the world’s poorest countries with vast amounts of people living well below the poverty line. Life threatening poverty coupled with the 14.2% of Malawians currently suffering with HIV/AIDS leads to devastating results. As a result the project has an increasingly important role in helping the community and improving child mortality rates as it is currently estimated that around half a million children have been orphaned as the result of this deadly illness.

Quest4Change and the Joshua Orphan Care Trust work hard to ensure the orphans, vulnerable children and their families in the Pensulo district live in a safe and secure environment. Quest4Change provides volunteer support to self-help community projects constructing much needed schools, small businesses and medical centres. So far the project has successfully achieved numerous sustainable projects that improve the livelihood of the community, including constructing feeding stations, schools and developing tree-planting initiatives.
