Thanks to West Ham

Thank you to the team at West Ham United for their generous donation of kit to our children’s project in the shanty town of Villa Maria, Peru. This donation will give a real boost to the establishment of our new Inter-Community Junior Football League.

Villa Maria
is home to about 750,000 people living in unimaginably appalling conditions, home for most families is a shack with no running water, sanitation or electricity. With adults working long hours children are often left alone to wander the streets, frequently ending up in trouble with the law.

Quest4Change have been working in Villa Maria since 1998. During this time we have seen great improvements; our sports, arts and educational activities have reached out to over 200,000 children dramatically reducing the numbers of children falling into drugs and crime. Despite these steps forward the biggest problem the area now faces is a growing gang culture which is causing division amongst the various communities within Villa Maria.

In order to address this problem Quest4Change is looking to create the first Inter-Community Junior Football League. The league will be open to children aged between 5 and 15 and will offer them a safe environment to take part in sport, it will increase inter-community understanding and will help combat anti social behaviour by offering a positive alternative to drugs and crime, one of team work and dedication.

West Ham’s donation will make a fantastic contribution to this project, thanks to the Team at Towers Watson for helping to secure this.
