For his 50th birthday he asked his friends and family, in lieu of buying him a present, to instead make a donation to Quest4Change. Due to tremendous generosity, Harry and his wife, Gertie have raised a total of £1,255!
Quest4Change have been working in Villa Maria for over 13 years now, supporting some of the poorest children living in one of the world's largest shanty towns. Villa Maria is home to 750,000 people all living in unimaginably appalling conditions. Adults work long hours and therefore the children are left to wander the streets, often becoming involved with crime and drugs.
Quest4Change provides pre and primary education and workshops in sports, music, dance and drama for 100s of these children. This great donation has come at a crucial time, construction projects are underway to expand the current school to twice its size and to build more higher quality homes for children in the shanty town. The best bit is that 100% of the money donated will go directly to the project and when Chantel arrives in Villa Maria she will be helping build new homes and run workshops for 100s of children.
A massive thank you goes out to the Owen's family and friends and best of luck to Chantel for her upcoming travels.
