Our fantastic project partners crees, working out in the Peruvian Amazon, trialled their Real Forest
Project this August - it was a great success. Students from the STEPS Institute and
Salvación High School spent a the day at the Manu Learning Centre, putting the
tour guiding skills they've learnt in the classroom into practice.
The group
helped out on the butterfly scheme, collecting samples and recording data, took
tours along the forest trails and listened to presentations by crees staff
about the running of the lodge. It is important that students see how what they
learn in school translates into their potential future careers and to get truly
hands on.
Thanks to the positive reactions, it is hoped that the Real Forest
Project will start to run every month with larger student groups so that more young
people can experience the reality of being a tour guide.
Well done to everyone
involved for making the day such a fantastic achievement. Find out more about our work with crees.
