A tour of the Quest School at our project in Villa Maria

Want to learn more about the Quest Pre- and Primary School in Villa Maria, Peru? Let Quest leader Rowan give you a guided tour...

Why is the school so important?
In theory, education in Peru is compulsory and free in public schools; however the reality is that many children are unable to access state education. This is often because their family cannot afford the registrations fees, uniforms, books and bus fares; or due to the fact that there are not enough places in public schools to accommodate everyone. This problem is especially prevalent in Villa Maria due to the high population density.

In 2003 Quest4Change decided to start tackling this issue by establishing a much needed pre-primary and primary school in the heart of the district we work in. Although the school is fee-paying, the majority of children have their fees either fully or partially sponsored. The Quest School currently has 136 pupils enrolled, having expanded from the initial intake of just 50.

Our main aim is to reach out to and support the poorest children in the communities we work with, those who would otherwise be excluded from such opportunities. Transforming their lives through access to education and opening up a world of positive opportunities for them and their families.

Child sponsorship
It costs just £200 to sponsor a child to attend the Quest School for a year, covering their fees, uniform and books.

If you would like to support a child through education, please get in touch with us to discuss the options.
