Can You Help? Since 2008 Joshua has been working on a much needed clinic in Pensulo. All the building work is completed for the Grand Opening later this month, but we now need a final push to get all the equipment needed for the local community, who would otherwise have to walk at least 8 miles for treatment.
We have set up a clinic wish list which details everything that is still needed with costings. Pensulo Clinic Appeal >www.joshuainmalawi.blogspot.com
What is needed?
The clinic needs equipment ranging from an Oxygen concentrator at £1713.40 to dressing forceps at just £2.76 each. You can sponsor items individually by cheque or through justgiving, or how about coming up with an event to raise money for a larger item like a bed at £432.78 each or even 20 kidney dishes which are £10 each = £200. Why not get everyone in your university halls or place of work involved and hold a fundraising day? You can follow sponsorship progress on the Joshua blog.
Lily Grace’s storyThree weeks ago Maria (pictured middle) a young lady from Pensulo found herself desperately attempting to walk the 8 miles to the nearest clinic to give birth. On route she went into labour and was extremely lucky to be spotted by a passing policeman and driven to the clinic. It was just in time and just hours later she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Lily Grace (pictured below).
This is a typical story for many pregnant women in Pensulo but unfortunately the outcome is normally very different. Most mothers are forced to give birth at home or worse outside with no medical assistance meaning many lose their babies.
Do you work or know of anyone who is involved in the distribution of clinical supplies?
If you think you might know where we could source items here in the UK for less than on our list or even for free then please do get in touch. You can e-mail andy@joshuainmalawi.org.uk How can I sponsor? To see the wish list please visit >www.joshuainmalawi.blogspot.com
You can then sponsor any item through justgiving or by sending a cheque made payable to ’Joshua Orphan Care Trust’ and post it to Mrs Berry Butler, Dene Cottage, Woldingham Road, Woldingham, Surrey, CR3 7LA.
